Here at M.I.S.S. Techcessories we’re all about keeping it really real, and if I’m going to be really real with you then I have put this out there: most so called luxury phones tend to be handsets featuring old technology either wrapped up in some precious metal, swathed in jewels, or covered in more dead animal hides than you can shake a poacher at. However, Versace is looking to change all that with the launch of the Unique, a phone designed in collaboration with ModeLabs Group of France and Korea’s on LG. Hand assembled in France, the Unique features a sapphire crystal touchscreen that is supposedly impossible to scratch and provides a high level of touch precision . The phone’s face is constructed from either pure high-tech ceramic or handmade lacquers delicately framed with an 18K yellow gold finish or 316L grade stainless steel inlay, while the back is wrapped in the finest handcrafted leather, embossed with Versace’s signature Medusa head.
Whereas ModeLabs provides the beauty, LG provides the brains that power it all. There’s an email client, media player capable of playing back both music and videos for up to 30 hours, (over the phone’s Dolby Mobile Surround Sound speakers, no less), a 5 megapixel camera with flash, and is capable of connecting to 3G networks. While all of this would be fairly standard on any other phone, on a phone like this it’s sort of a revelation.
The Unique will be out sometime next month and will naturally be sold through only the most important exclusive watch and fine jewelery networks and Versace flagship boutiques worldwide. What? Were you expecting to stroll into your local Wal-Mart?
