I’ve struggled with problematic skin for years. Oily, flaky, acne prone…no matter my age, there was always some sort of issue. And being an aesthetician, I always felt it was mandatory to present a clear face to my clients. It wasn’t until very recently, that a bout with hormonal acne subsided and my quest to keep my skin 100% clear became borderline obsessive. I’ve tried every brand of cream, lotion, and serum, from drug stores to high end skin care boutiques. Although I eventually found a cocktail of products that worked for me, I took a step back and looked at how I was treating my body INTERNALLY.
Diet and lifestyle are key factors in keeping your skin clear. Think about it, skin is the LARGEST organ of the body and what you put IN eventually comes OUT. My latest obsession? Skin detoxifying teas. Green, white, and red teas are proven to carry antioxidants powerful enough to prevent certain cancers as well as repair damaged skin cells.
Yogi Skin DeTox tea contains blood cleansing red clover, while Get Gorgeous by The Republic Of Tea features Burdock Root (a natural liver cleanser) and Rooibos (a powerful anti-inflammatory). Both teas promise to help skin’s texture and clarity by drinking 3-4 cups a day. After about 2 weeks of religiously sipping Get Gorgeous, I noticed a significant decrease in oiliness and an overall radiant glow.
Although herbal remedies aren’t technically intended to diagnose, treat, or cure disease (according to the FDA), the power of tea has been linked to general wellness for centuries. Get beautiful glowing skin…from within!
