Macy’s has posed the challenge to it’s customers to become the “Fashion Director” and create a look with a “Daily Challenge”. From situations like “What would you wear to a blind date?” or “What would you wear to meet the in-laws the first time”, Macy’s on-line has given you the tools to create looks that could win you a $500 Macy’s gift card! Well, Macy’s has been taking this on-line concept on the road with Project Runway’s Nick Verreos! Hitting up major cities, Nick has hosted this event around the U.S. and this past weekend I had the pleasure of working along side Nick at the Macy’s in downtown Sacramento.
I had the responsibility of selecting three scenarios and pulling a selection of clothing, shoes and accessories that fell into those categories. The three situations at hand were: The Perfect Interview Outfit, Meeting Martha Stewart and Front Row at a Beyoncé Concert. Audience members wrote their names on a slip of paper and were randomly selected out of a hat for each challenge. Each challenge had two contestants that had two minutes to run back stage and ransack the racks of clothing and accessories. Once the time was up, I, along with my team of dressers got the models dressed and styled and on Nick’s cue, sent them on stage. Nick chatted with the contestants about the pieces they had selected and at the very end of all three challenges, the winner was selected by the crowd. The winner of a $250 gift card was a mom who had put together the perfect “Front Row at a Beyoncé Concert” look!
Nick was as nice and kind as you’d think and I had an amazing time working with him! We bonded over Salt ‘n Pepa-esque earrings and being FIDM Alumi. Nick’s next stop is Tampa, FL this Saturday. You can check-out Nick’s brief visit to the Capital on his blog and follow NickVerreos1 on twitter too!
