Over 400 eye-popping photos provide a decade-long tour of graffiti in New York City. Walls, trucks, and subway cars are featured with graffiti by the crews , and many more. Because New York City has made a concerted effort to remove graffiti from the city, the images captured here will never be seen again. Walls were repainted and some buildings were demolished, keeping graffiti crews working fast to keep ahead of the trend. The author worked even faster to capture their ephemeral efforts. If you have a fascination with urban life and colorful expression, this book is definitely for you.

Another interesting artistic collaboration has evolved around the Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly II soccer boot. This time the sportswear giant commissioned photographer Sølve Sundsbø.

“Known for his unique image manipulation, Sølve’s shoot encapsulates a kinetic look, highlighting the groundbreaking and ground sensing design of the boot’s innovative adaptive traction studs.

With his trademark clarity and post-production digital flair, Sølve plays on the extensive craftsmanship that lies within the Mercurial boot. His rationale is simple, “The great amount of research that has gone into this shoe is not necessarily immediately visible. That’s why I wanted to visualise its technological and scientific aspects first.”

Channeling the boot’s technology and clean aesthetic with Flywire carbon fibres and traction adapting studs, this imagery reinforces football’s future – style with substance.”

WHOA! I’d like to see this in 3D form.

Banksy Exit Through The Gift Shop

After an initial showing at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, Banksy’s “Exit Through the Gift Shop” readies for a more wide-spread release with this extended look. The 5 minute sneak peek also goes into detail regarding the background and the involvement of French filmmaker, Terry Guetta who becomes an interesting dynamic to the whole movie. A further synopsis can be seen below.

Exit Through the Gift Shop, the first film by renowned graffiti artist Banksy, became the hottest ticket at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival where it made its world debut. Banksy is a graffiti artist with a global reputation whose work can be seen on walls from post—hurricane New Orleans to the separation barrier on the Palestinian West Bank. Fiercely guarding his anonymity to avoid prosecution, Banksy has so far resisted all attempts to be captured on film. Exit Through the Gift Shop tells the incredible true story of how an eccentric French shop keeper turned documentary maker attempted to locate and befriend Banksy, only to have the artist turn the camera back on its owner with spectacular results. The film contains exclusive footage of Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Invader and many of the worlds most infamous graffiti artists at work, on walls and in interview. As Banksy describes it, Its basically the story of how one man set out to film the un—filmable. And failed
