I know I’m all late with the rest of my fashion week coverage, but Fall won’t be here for months and months and months, and with so many worldwide fashion weeks with an umpteen number shows going on, it’s hard to keep track of it all. This time around I got to check out the Tibi Fall 2010 fashion show at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion week for the second time (Tibi Spring 2010), and much like last season’s show, the music BUMPED. Amy Smilovic’s 42 look collection was once again playful and sassy, perfectly paired with hairstyles of tumbling curls, but it still maintained touches of classic poise with a tightly belted stringency and occasional leather waist pouch.
Trousers and skirts with bow and bustle-like gathers seemed like a natural progression from harem and dropped crotch trends that we’re seeing right now, and their use on such tailored, slim clothing should make the look more wearable for more women.
While more restrained on color this season, Smilovic managed to slip some unusual prints and color combinations in there that while greatly different from the overall feel did not seem completely out of place.
