Let’s face it: life is much better when you have an assistant. But not everyone can afford to pay a fresh faced kid out of college a bunch of dough to be at your beck and call 24/7, fetching you donuts in the middle of the night or making sure your kids get unreleased Harry Poter manuscripts before everyone else does.
That’s where the new Siri Assistant iPhone App comes in. Sure, it won’t run down the street and fetch coffee for you, but it can do a bunch of things that are almost as useful. With the app running you can ask your phone such questions as, “What’s the weather going to be today?”, “Where’s the nearest Italian restaurant?” and even bark orders like, “Make a reservation for 5 at the Cheesecake Factory.” The apps advanced artificial intelligence will actually interpret and parse your speech, then take you to the appropriate web service pertaining to your request. The Siri Assistant can connect to around twenty different web services at the moment, with many more to come in the near future.
The Siri Assistant app is free to download now in the iTunes store. Right now it only works with the iPhone 3GS due to its faster processor, but a version is in the works for earlier iPhone models.
