Sure, I keep up with music blogs in search of free mp3’s and tour updates. Even though I’m always on the look out for new music, I tend to play out the same songs for weeks on end. That, or get hooked on a musician or band and stick with them. Neon Indian had me at the catchy, hazy, completely addictive, “Deadbeat Summer.” It’s been on ever since.
Psychic Chasms out on Lefse Records and iTunes now
Neon Indian is the third musical project from Mexico-born, Texas-raised Alan Palomo. He is known for his work in the band, Ghosthustler, and as the artist VEGA. Music blogs and satellite radio station Sirius XMU have shown much support for Neon Indian, respectively. His debut album off of Lefse Records, Psychic Chasms, features standout tracks like the aforementioned, “Deadbeat Summer,” “Should Have Taken AcidWith You,” and “Terminally Chill.”
Neon Indian is also responsible for addicting me to the remix of the electro-pop girl group Au Revoir Simone‘s “Another Likely Story.” It was added to just about every cd mix I made for friends upon it entering my world.
Just because I added Neon Indian tracks to my mixes doesn’t mean all of my friends enjoyed it! I love blasting these psychedelic tinged tunes while I’m working, but we all have varying tastes. When I’m driving, that’s a different story, best believe that bass is bumpin’! What do you like to listen to while working?
Neon Indian is on tour, definitely a great live show to check out.
