‘It’s on with Alexa Chung’ may no longer be a part of MTV’s roster, but that doesn’t mean host Alexa Chung won’t be busy. Aside from her regular appearances on style blogs and fashion sites, the 26-year-old transplanted New Yorker (by way of England) has just signed on to design a collection for denim house Madewell, which is currently part of the J.Crew Group. (The brand originated in Massachusetts in 1937 as a work wear label, and was relaunched in 2006 with a modern edge.)

The collection will be Chung’s first collaboration with any clothing label and is slated to launch in Fall 2010. Chung will also serve as creative inspiration and face of the ad campaign. The collection will be entitled ‘Alexa Chung for Madewell’ will include denim, as well as other wardrobe staples meant to be paired with the jeans.

The collab was a no-brainer for both parties: Chung is already a Madewell fan, and who doesn’t count her as an obvious style icon these days? (In addition to being a contributing editor at British Vogue, the fashion darling’s pictures are splashed across the pages of style pubs and blogs in both the print and online worlds.) The collection will be exclusive to Madewell and will be available in all of Madewell’s 17 nationwide store, including the brand’s SoHo flagship store in New York City. The Madewell Web site is slated to launch e-commerce in Spring 2010; Chung’s collection for Madewell will then be available online through the site.
