M.I.S.S. Playlists: The Neptunes

Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo are The Neptunes

Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo are The Neptunes

Oh Pharrell, how I love thee. You seem like a horribly arrogant person, but somehow, I can look past that, because you have filled my world with glorious beats, tinny synth noises, slightly off-key vocals, and scientifically executed key changes. You are equally amazing too, Chad Hugo.

Chad and Skateboard P met in high school and have been producing together for more than a decade now, successfully providing the world with club bangers, simple ballads, and raw, gritty beats. They have been making hits since the early ’90s, their first notable hit being Wreckx-N-Effect’s “Rump Shaker” (check out Nardwuar the Human Serviette and his interview with Pharrell and Shay of N.E.R.D. for details). I chose over 100 songs produced by The Neptunes. There are some songs by just Chad Hugo, (as in the case of songs by artist Kenna), and some songs produced solely by Pharrell. I featured my favorites, and I split the material into four playlists. Here are two of the four to get your weekend started! You will not be able to resist doing a cabbage patch or two to these jams, trust.
