NIKE Sportswear at The Montalbán Presents CINEMA TUESDAYS: Youth In Revolt

This year is already in full swing and Nike Sportswear did not waste anytime kicking off the year this past Tuesday January 5th with a special advanced screening of Miguel Arteta’s YOUTH IN REVOLT as part of Cinema Tuesdays at The Montalbán. The Cinema Tuesdays series is curated by Flux at The Montalbán Theater in Hollywood.

I was very excited this was the first Cinema Tuesday film of the year, and so were a lot of other people…the line was almost around the block! Who does’nt love a good coming of age story right? Especially one with quasi-hip counter-cultural references to Belmondo, Gainsbourg, Ozu, Fellini and a soundtrack that features Fatlip, French ’60s singer Jacque Dutronc, Beulah, Fruit Bats and Michael Cera himself.

At the box office guests received a mysterious BE BAD button and on entering were greeted by the sounds of NITEDOG (Blackdisco). After the film guests were invited upstairs to the mezzanine which featured a live music performance by PARIS LOVES LA featuring Adele Jacques. French actress and singer Jacques contributes a track to the YOUTH IN REVOLT Soundtrack. Complimentary cocktails were served by Belvedere.

YOUTH IN REVOLT is a comedy that puts a fresh and outrageous stamp on a tale of adolescent obsession and rebellion. Starring Michael Cera (Juno, Superbad) and based on the acclaimed novel by C.D. Payne, YOUTH IN REVOLT is the story of Nick Twisp – a unique, but affable teen with a taste for the finer things in life like Sinatra and Fellini – who falls hopelessly in love with the beautiful, free-spirited Sheeni Saunders (Portia Doubleday) while on a family vacation.

YOUTH IN REVOLT was a breath of fresh air compared to the all “teenage” films of late. Don’t get me wrong, I do love me some Twilight (yes, I admit I am a fan), but you really can’t beat an intelligent, witty, well written film with good music that really speaks to the “youth” (I use that term losely) of today.

Youth In Revolt hits theaters today!
