Dynasty x Camp Lo

Dynasty x Camp Lo

Little is known about the R&B band Dynasty.  They had a few hits back in the late 1970s and early 1980s, but were not nearly as successful as  their SOLAR label mates The Whispers, Shalimar, and Midnight Star.  When I think of Dynasty, the first thing that immediately comes into my mind is their single “Adventures in the Land of Music”.  It was this song that provided the sample for Camp Lo’s 1997 smash hit “Luchini aka This is it”. 12 years later, Camp Lo’s sampling of Dynasty’s “Adventures in the Land of Music” remains one of my favorite hip hop moments of all time! It not only introduced the world to Camp Lo members Sonny Cheeba and Geechi Suede, but it also re-introduced me to Dynasty’s music as well. Take a listen to both tracks!
