Remember watches? You know…those things you used to use to tell time with before those new fangled mobile phones came along? Realizing that watches are becoming about as functionally relevant as sun-dials and fanny packs, third year design student Cheuk Kee Lai at the School of Design at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University came up with the Mirror Watch, which, as the name implies, is a watch with a reflective mirror for a face. Sure, you could actually view the time with the push of a button, but you know what else you could do? Stare at yourself in the mirror for hours on end, you big narcissist, you.
If you’re in Hong Kong you can get a watch right now in brushed stainless steel, black, or with a gold-plate from a handful of retailers. Everyone else will just have to wait until SD Works (the brand under which the School of Design at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University commercializes student work) opens up its online store sometime in the very near future.
