M.I.S.S. Holiday Giveaway: Paper Heart DVD!

What if you never believed in true love? And were ok with that? Life would probably be a lot easier, for sure, and that’s exactly what comedienne Charlyne Yi thought in the recent semi-documentary Paper Heart. Bolstered by her need to understand what love really is, Charlyne and director Nick Jasenovec set out on a trip cross-country to find out and document why people go gaga over love. Along the way, she talks to lawyers, chemists, ministers, writers and even a group of playground kids, who all clue Charlyne in on what they think love is. And so does one Michael Cera, who, despite her disbelief in love, Charlyne can’t help but sort of… fall for! Paper Heart did well in theaters and garnered positive reviews, mostly because of Yi’s true-to-life portrayal of someone experiencing love for the first time. Yi and Cera are funny and quirky, and help to re-imagine the modern romance in a way that doesn’t involve fairytale weddings, but pretty much just a real girl and a real boy. That’s the kind of love WE love. In fact, we love it so much that we’re happy to bequeath it to you, in DVD form no less!

The Paper Heart DVD and Blu-ray, out now in all major retailers and available on Amazon, includes some super sweet bonus features, including: “Paper Heart Uncut” (the making of film), live musical performances by Charlyne Yi, “Heaven” ( a music video by Charlyne Yi and Michael Cera, oodles of deleted scenes, and love interviews with the comedians! “There’s no such thing in love, it’s fantasy.” _summer finn

Though at times I may subscribe to this quote from (500) Days of Summer, I still believe that love exists. But, it’s beyond affection between two lovers. Love is the fantasy that we lose ourselves in during moments of pure elation. When you find that moment, you’ve found love.

    2. Despite the fact that I constantly say that love does not exist, deep down inside I think it really does. It’s just extremely hard to come by, and truly “being in love” doesn’t occur as frequently as we wish. After all, all these movies and songs we watch and listen to about being in love can’t be made up over something fictional, there has to be a little bit of truth behind them, right?

  4. JUST says:

I believe in love because it makes you want to change yourself, not for the person you share that love with, but for the better person you’re always capable of being. And sharing that love with the person you’re with is just a catalyst for such a phenomenon. It’s powerful even through all the cynicism and bitterness.

“We can all pretend to be cynical and scheming, but when we’re faced with purity an innocence the cynical mask drops off and all that is best in us awakens.” – from the film, “Nights of Cabiria”
