Fashion’s creative nature lends itself to other similar disciplines; the end product usually amounting to a unique, brilliant meeting of the minds. That’s exactly the situation for House of Organza, an architecture/fashion brainchild of designer Lyall Harakaia and stylist Kim Howells.
According to Dazed Digital, the London-based project – using white organza fabric – allowed artists to get their brain juices flowing to create unique pieces that were slated to decorate the Vogue Fabric building. Due to inclement weather in London, the exhibition was moved indoors to Vogue Fabrics of Dalston, House of Organza’s hometown. Included in the collaboration are designers Lyall Hakaraia, GlovedUp, Dr. Noki, Piers Atkinson, Judy Blame, Craig Lawrence, Fred Butler and Atalanta Weller. The pieces were shot by Mari Sarai.
Also included in the exhibition is a short film shot by Bogstandard’s Dylan Byrne and Ben Strebel, which you can view in full at the Dazed Web site. The Lady GaGa-esque short displays the striking organza creations set against a powerful black background.
If you’re in London, be sure to check out the exhibition at Vogue Fabrics, 66 Stoke Newington Road, London N16 7XB.
