I was invited to check out some footwear brands at the FFaNY tradeshow a little while back, and got the opportunity to further familiarize myself with Candela NYC. I’d seen their shoes in Urban Outfitters and a few other stores, but never knew anything about the brand beside the name. Candela NYC is an apparel and footwear company by two South American women Natalia Kuks-Jacobs and Gabriela Perezutti-Isacson, who aim to make comfortable clothes and shoes that they wished were already in their closets. The ready to wear line of apparel started in 2004, was followed by the footwear collection three years later, and has won over celebrities like Kate Hudson, Fergie and Linsday Lohan.
For Candela NYC’s Spring collection, we see a bunch of styles that really allow the foot to breathe. Delicate lace makes it’s way on to a few silhouettes, and we also see more variations on some of the footwear trends we’ve seen over the past year, including studding, fringe, gladiator-like styles, and nerdy-androgynous tap shoes.
I got a quick peek of the apparel catalogue, and saw some things that I instantly liked, but would like to get a look at it more closely. Later this week, I’ll be back with a sneak peek of the Pre-Fall Candela NYC line. In the meantime, Candela NYC shoes can be found in Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and online at Shopstyle, and many other retailers.
