Jeans are a classic American staple. A defining element of American culture, denim has been a mainstay in American fashion for decades. For Spring 2010, William Rast designers paid homage to denim’s heritage in the U.S. In conjunction with another significant style icon – biker culture – the newest William Rast collection is founded on the concept of New America. The main points of inspiration? The classic American road trip and the neon-plated street signs that dot highways cross-country.
The latest additions to the William Rast brand celebrate denim in its simplest – and most stylish – form. The color palette stays true to denim’s versatility and is composed of universal (read: timeless) hues: blacks, grays, dark blues, deep forest greens. In addition, stylish detailing (zipper pockets for us ladies) has been added to make the pieces time relevant without being too trendy (and thus out of style six months later).
What can you expect for Spring 2010? Think light washes on soft Italian fabrics, whiskered boyfriend jeans and American flag graphic tees. You’ll also find denim leggings – more popularly known as ‘jeggings’ on the blogosphere today – offered in a multitude of styles. They range from basics to biker shorts (hot right now), which can be paired with the super-chic leather jackets William Rast is offering up for the season. We’re crushing on the one with laced-up sleeves since it’s a detail we’ve yet to see on a leather jacket. (If you’re keen on menswear, the theme for men’s leather is suede matte.) Going back to William Rast’s denim leggings for a hot second, you’ll be able to cop some versions with zippers, while others feature details such as studs and lace.
Lace is super hot right now, and one of our fave pieces from the collection is the Western-inspired lace button-down. How William Rast managed to turn a cowboy-inspired staple into a sexy must-have garment we’ll never know! For those of you who adore your basic five-pocket denim, no need to worry: William Rast is also presenting the beloved traditional style for Spring, not only in typical blue but also in chic shades of gray and the always-flattering black.
Spring 2010 may seem like light years away at this point, but to get your William Rast fix in the meantime check out their official Web site.
