Mark Ronson, Sam Sparro and Theophilus London formed Chauffeur, the latest supergroup.

In the legendary annals of music history, there have been but a few super-groups worth mentioning. Like: Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (ask your parents about this one if you can’t remember), The Traveling Wilburys (Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, George Harrison, Tom Petty, and Jeff “Strange Magic” Lynne– go ask your parents again, since you probably can’t remember this one either),  The Firm (Nas, AZ, Foxy Brown and Nature/Cormega– if you don’t remember this one, get to You Tubin’). And, ok, this isn’t technically a “supergroup”,  but the team of  “We Are the World” (click for video!)? Clearly one of THE best supergroup/collaborations of all time!

Lately, some “supergroups” have popped up and recorded a brilliant track or two, only to disappoint us by falling off hard– CRS (Pharell, Kanye and Lupe), we’re talking about you! Releasing a track like “Us Placers” and then falling off the map? Not. Cool.

Anyway, we digress. There is a new super-group on the block, one that debuted a couple of super-secretive tracks at a super-secretive fort during the not-so-secretive CMJ Festival this past week in New York. Chauffeur is their name, and rocking you with soulful-yet-wholly-80’s-pop jams is their game. Chauffeur consists of megaproducer Mark Ronson, “Black and Gold” singer Sam Sparro and “This Charming” blog/mixtape/man incarnate Theophilus London. Separately, the three have created some ridiculous good tuneage, and together they have created one equally as good song called “Soles of Fire”. The song was written specially for Gucci Icon’s Temporary Pop-Up Shop, at which Mark Ronson will debut his line of boat shoes for Gucci. Supergrouping while Gucci’ing it? Luxurious, and we love it!

Listen to the track here, and here’s to keeping your fingers crossed that these dudes debut more tracks very soon.
