Fashion Meets Music: Jody Watley

This week the Fashion Meets Music column pays homage to 80’s dance queen, Jody Watley. What strikes me most about Miss Watley is her high cheekbone face structure, black rimmed almond shaped eyes, and pristine skin. Oh, and then there are the hits, like “Looking For A New Love,” and “Some Kind of Lover.” She took the world by storm with her funky fresh dance moves, in fact, as I write this I’m gettin my strut on around the room because of this song:

The Grammy award winning artist from Chicago has built a career that spans the genres of Pop, Dance, R&B, and Electronic soul. She is also noted for being the first music artist to include a rapper on a verse of a song with, “Friends,” featuring Eric B. an Rakim. She was one of the first artists to mix high end couture with vintage pieces to create looks. The late eighties were her heyday, but what is old always turns new again and the beautiful Jody Watley is one to take note on.
