Ohio based company The Limited is kicking off a three week in store eyewear collection drive to benefit OneSight a group of charitable programs dedicated to improving vision for this in need through outreach, research, and education. Eye care today, for those who need it, is becoming increasingly expensive for the average consumer, making this initiative very important. Around 250 million people suffer from poor vision (me being one of them) and don’t have proper eyewear simply because they cannot afford it. Since 1988 OneSight has provided proper eye care to more than seven million people in need.
“Many of our recipients – especially globally – have never before owned a pair of glasses, yet are legally blind when they come to our Clinics. The glasses that The Limited stores are collecting for OneSight will change lives by enabling a grandmother to see the faces of her grandchildren, putting an adult back to work, and helping a child to see the blackboard and learn in school.”
Taking place in each of the of the 220 plus Limited stores across the U.S. all of the collected eyewear will be donated to OneSight for their volunteers the clean, recycle, and hand deliver to one of the organizations 20 Global Optical Clinics. The Limited stores will serve as official eyewear donation locations with customers being alerted to bring in their used eyewear through extensive signage in all stores as well as news features on the Limited website. Those who donate will be given coupons for discounts on future purchases at The Limited. The initiative is apart of The Limited’s store wide campaign “Focus on Success” featuring the brands new Fall 09 suiting collection.
“This project supports our ongoing campaign of promoting and supporting what we call ‘her personal success,'” said The Limited CEO Linda Heasley. “This partnership really brings to life the idea of being ‘Focused on Success’ – success can mean so many different things to different women. We strongly believe that helping others is a sign of success. OneSight was the perfect partner as a successful organization dedicated to helping others in need worldwide.”
