The Date Farmers “Strange Fruit” now showing at at FIFTY24SF Gallery in San Fransico, CA.

The Date Farmers is a collaborative work between artists Carlos Ramirez and Armando Lerma.  These two gentlemen use scavenged materials, often found near their desert homes in southern California and nearby Mexico to create paintings, collages, and three-dimensional pieces.  The artist are strongly influenced by graffiti, Mexican street murals, traditional revolutionary posters, sign painting, prison art and tattoos.  Strange Fruit is influenced by “the everyday stories, social politics and myths that take place and unfold around us on a daily.”

Crayon Portraits by Christian Faur

Crayon Portraits by Christian Faur

Can you remember what it was like to open a new box of crayons? I can! Christian Faur’s earliest memories of art involve the use of wax crayons also. As an adult, he is still using crayons but in a completely different way. The crayon itself is used as a pixel to create extraordinary and photo-real images. Each work contains a small box filled with rows and rows of crayons that when viewed from up close, just look like a collection of colors. Once you step back, the image reveals itself more clearly. Please visit his website and take a look at this amazing collection!!!
