M.I.S.S. NYFW: Tibi Spring 2010

M.I.S.S. NYFW: Tibi Spring 2010

With models stepping out to the tune “Sweet Child O’ Mine” Tibi blessed the runway this season with a collection that was simplistic, and full of color. Quoting Designer Amy Smilovic from the show program: “Imagine Great Expectations, set in the 1990’s, starring Chrisy, Linda and Naomi. Lush gardens and abstract florals in icy pastels mixed with intensely saturated colors. Tibi’s spring collection is unabashedly pretty and feminine but decidedly minimal and not too precious.”

Basic slip dresses and tops in solid colors or with signature prints, combined well with smatterings of sequins, ruffles mini skirts. Bold, square shoulders made yet another appearance on this runway, but unlike most other appearances, they were softened up by the cropped dimension of the tops, which petaled in the rear, leaving the sensual curve of a woman’s back exposed.

The bright pink/coral eyeshadow on a virtually nude face presented with this collection reminded me immediately of the makeup styling for Ports 1961, and emerged as my favorite makeup trend this season. It also matched beautifully with the color story of the collection, highlighting the light playfulness of spring.
