If you’ve ever walked into an Anthropologie store, chances are you’ve seen the chic, ultra-feminine line Leifsdottir. I was instantly smitten from the moment I received the invitation, a paper flower decorated with gold leaf. M.I.S.S. Kim and I walked in the dreary NY rain to an office building a few block from the tents and were instantly whisked away into a fantasy garden complete with a rainbow assortment of birds, park benches, water fountain, greenery and beautiful old style bird cages.
Unlike the typical runway shows, Leifsdottir presented the collection two looks at a time. Every few minutes, two models would stroll into the garden, feed the birds and share a moment relaxing on the park benches – all the while displaying the colorful girl pieces presented by Leifsdottir.
Floral dresses, wispy blouses and playful skirts were the focal point of the collection. Saturated colors like bright yellows, deep blues and vibrant reds contrasted with cream, white and gray. One of the highlights for me were the intricate floral headpieces worn by the models. The hair was up-swept away from the face and the makeup was fresh with a neutral eye and lips the colors of spring flowers from coral and peach to hot pink.
For those with a keen eye (ahem, M.I.S.S. Kim) you may notice some familiar faces. Amerie made an appearance wearing Leifsdottir and one of the winners of America’s Next Top Model was one of the models for the collection. View more pieces of the collection and atmosphere below in the gallery.
