Back to Noise showed a solid line up for Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 at Expose in The Daily Suite. We showed you some of the Back to Noise Fall 2009 collection a few months back but it was nice to see the pieces up close. The current collection’s stand out features were the shoulders. Many of the silhouettes had external shoulder pads, but don’t get it wrong, they didn’t evoke the line backer looks of the 1980’s. Instead, the padding was more akin to a military general’s epaulettes. On some of the styles, the shoulder pads were removable, giving the pieces a versatile look.
One of my favorite aspects of the Spring 2010 collection was the simple colorways (black/white/grey) and the use of real python leather. The snakeskin is soft and supple and was used as accents on many pieces. Back to Noise also designed handbags and small leather goods in snakeskin and buffalo leather – and the best part is that the bags are produced by Hermès – so you know they are the best quality for a fraction of the price. It should come as no surprise that quality and design are paramount since Catherine Dupire-Clement was formerly a head designer at Sonia Rykiel. Back to Noise was one of the more exciting collections that I’ve seen in a while, and I can’t wait to see more.
