The overarching theme of Anna Sui’s Spring 2010 runway show yesterday was “anything goes,” and a quick peek at the looks will prove why. We can’t say we weren’t intrigued by the mixing-and-matching of prints, the plaid paired with florals, and the bandleader-meets-schoolgirl looks. In fact, we loved the variety it presented. One look was composed of a boho-chic print and floral handband (very Diane von Furstenberg circa last season), while another showed a puffy-sleeved sweater with an intricately detailed skirt.
While the past few seasons have seen models sporting larger-than-life stilettos (which we’ve rarely seen make an appearance any other than the runway, in fashion editorials and on Victoria Beckham), Anna Sui’s footwear was a welcomed respite from those ankle-breaking contraptions. Models sported flats – loafers, sequined ballet flats – making the looks all the more accessible. (Trust us, it’s hard being working women in heels all the time!)
Like we said before, one trend we’re totally feeling is the mismatching of prints. Because come on, we all have those few pieces in our closets that are crazy plaid or floral designs that we bought on a whim, only to discover that we have nothing to wear with it. Thanks to Anna Sui, you can now rock that crazy-patterned piece with… another crazy-patterned garment! And flats, to boot!
