Elevated high above the tumultuous Sea of Love stands the home of this world’s foremost collector of exotic sea creatures, the gajillionaire Old Man Cruikshank. Cruikshank had sent a special invitation to the three bravest sailors known in whisper and legend, The Seafarers. And an invitation from Old Man Cruikshank is not something one turns down…and so the Seafarers’ adventure began.

Chubby Books Series I: Julie West

Check out the message below from pinkghost, intro-ing their amazingly-cute “chubby book” artist series!

At pinkghost we are long time fans of round & chubby things. We actually list it as one of our interests. When the opportunity to create our very first product came along we knew it would have to be cute, round and chubby. That was one of the main requirements but there were many more. The second most important requirement would be that the product had to be based on amazing and beautiful art that we collected, respected and admired. Hence, we decided to work with the artists of Chubby Books Series I: Julie West, Helena Garcia & 64 Colors.

The idea of the Chubby Book was the result of being unable to settle for a sketchbook, journal or postcard book. We wanted to do all three but could just start by producing one product. So we mashed all three into one fat, cute, rounded corner book.

Artist Chubby Books are 250 page Hardcover books including 10 artist designed postcards, 100 lined pages and 150 sketch pages. Artist Chubby Book Series I includes: Julie West, Helena Garcia & 64 Colors. Series I will be officially released Saturday, September 5, 2009 in store and online ( Chubby Books at signings include a pinkghost keychain while supplies last. Yay!

pinkghost loves you the most!

ROY NACHUM ‘Prophecy’

August 22 – September 16, 2009
Opening Reception: Saturday August 22, 6-9pm

At first glance the paintings by Roy Nachum can easily be confused with digital art. However, his works are actually oil paintings on canvas that are painted in a way that spurs the viewer to investigate further. Nachum creates his images by utilizing the idea of pixels. Each ‘pixel’ is painted one-by-one. The end result is a painting that comes together in a unique manner. Nachum describes this as creating micro worlds that come together in order to form the pattern of a single reality or of a dream.

This different technique also creates the desire of a physical approach to the piece, inviting people to feel and touch every pixel, experience the virtual and physical coming together in one unique moment. Influenced by everything that surrounds Nachum examines daily behaviors of different people, what makes them do the things they do and why– what they take for granted and why they do so. Thought, making and results – this is the origin of Nachum’s inspiration.

Roy will be in attendance
