Topshop Autumn/Winter ’09: It’s All In The Details

Topshop Fall 2009: Studs are all the rage!

Topshop Fall 2009: Studs are all the rage!

Ladies, we know how difficult shopping can be. We completely understand the frustration of spending the entire day bouncing through shops, keeping your hopes up to find a fabulous accessory or that perfect-fitting pair of jeans that makes the entire shopping trip worthwhile, only to come home completely empty-handed. It’s disheartening, to say the least. Well, you’ve heard of one-stop shopping, right? (Target, anyone?) This fall, consider Topshop your one-stop shop for… well, basically anything. In addition to killer forthcoming collaborations with designers Emma Cook and Ashish, who are both churning out footwear lines for the ultra-chic fashion house, Topshop’s got every hot trend for autumn scheduled to hit shelves.

Capitalizing on the vampire craze that’s taken over (thanks to the likes of movies like ‘Twilight’ and TV shows like ‘True Blood’), Topshop cashes in on the trend, using classic horror movie elements to create frightfully fabulous distressed T-shirts. You’ll find “blood-splattered” shirts emblazoned with phrases like “Be Afraid” and “Scream,” available appropriately in colors like black and red. (We can already picture these tees paired perfectly with a pair of super-destroyed acid-wash jeans.) Topshop pays homage to one of the legendary horror movie characters with a distressed tee featuring the movie poster from 1957’s “The Curse of Frankenstein.”

Horror movie influences never go out of style!

One trend that’s sure not to go unnoticed by fashion addicts everywhere is the prominence of studs, and Topshop was no exception to this rule. Bring out your inner punk with Topshop’s finger-less studded gloves or studded heels – or both! If you’re a bit shy about experimenting with studded pieces, scoop up Topshop’s studded-toe ankle boot, a mostly-black stiletto shoe featuring just a touch of the punk-esque detailing. If you’re at a loss for what to pair your studded heels or gloves with, just take a look at the items we’ve featured here: Topshop’s studded heels will go fabulously with the store’s super-shredded jean shorts (for colder weather, wear them over black tights), or consider pairing them with a simple black dress. (The studs pack the added punch to give your outfit attitude.)

For your inner girly girl (and ideal for a glamorous New Year’s evening), Topshop’s also bringing out sequined pieces that, paired with Topshop’s unique cuts and designs, will make you the life of any party. You’ll be able to find a plethora of pieces, so whether you’re interested in rocking a glittering one-shoulder dress, daring bra top, or you just want to add a touch of dazzle to your getup with a sequin jacket, Topshop’s got you covered for all three (and more!).

If you’re a fashion blog addict, you may have noticed a resurfacing of bodysuits lately. (They’ve sprung up at American Apparel, and FashionToast‘s Rumi Neely is a fan.) These one-piece wonders will also be appearing at Topshop this fall, and will be available in a sequined sleeveless version as well as a 3/4-sleeve lace number. Both super-sexy, and both super-versatile – pair either with a solid-colored skirt and black pumps for a chic, effortless outfit. Strong shoulders a la early ’90s have also seen a resurgence as of late, and now you can experiment with this trend when you rock Topshop’s futuristic black top. (Kim Kardashian was recently seen in a similar dress version – also from Topshop! You can check out Kim’s dress via her stylist Monica Rose’s blog.) Other fabulous fall trends: intricate headwear (feathers!), hole-y T-shirts (that perfectly worn-in feeling, but brand new), military-inspired pieces, and chunky knit accessories.

When it comes to footwear, the sky’s the limit for Topshop’s ultra-chic wedges and stilettos. The Ashish for Topshop footwear first made an appearance at Ashish’s Fall 2009 runway show, but you’ll most certainly be seeing more of these fierce wedges. Featuring leopard and zebra print, paired with an open toe and super-chunky platform, the shoes are both daring and magnificent, breathing new life into prints that have been around for ages. Emma Cook’s newest footwear collection for Topshop also features a wedge, but instead takes a more conservative approach with a play on a classic men’s shoe. We’re in love with the tassles and suede details, plus the wedge seems all the more comfortable than a stick-thin stiletto – ideal for long work days and running errands! Additionally, there are enough stilettos and ankle boots to satiate the hungriest of shoe addicts. One pair we’re lusting after are Topshop’s Alexander Wang-inspired ankle boots: all-black featuring a python pattern and black buckle detail, it goes with (literally) anything.

While there’s no specific launch date for all the goodness you’re witnessing, be on the lookout and keep up with Topshop’s blog and Twitter, as the pieces will be hitting stores from now until November and December. To locate your nearest Topshop location, check out the store’s official Web site, where you can also shop for pieces online.
