Martha Stewart Living magazine is like a bible of crafts, and no matter how many “good things” Martha may know about, it is obvious that the creative and crafts departments of the company have quite a few tricks up their prison-woven afghans as well. Such is the case with accessories designers Corinne Gill and Blake Ramsey, who started off their creative partnership as co-workers of the Martha Stewart Living crafts department. These ladies broke away from the cupcake styling and home décor montages of the mag to focus on their own company, Handle & Spout. The collection features a playful take on headwear and showcases traditional jewelry pieces done in unexpected materials such as leather. The line directly riffs off of the dancing feathers and wispy movements of the accessories of the 1930’s and 1940’s, and much like the adornments of yore, it is hard to resist the simple charm of these pieces.
The best part about Handle & Spout is that they take custom orders, which is especially great for special events like weddings. In the money-making machine known as the “wedding industry”, it is nice to know that there are still options out there that allow a bride to throw a little bit of her own style and individuality into the look of her wedding party. And unlike most bridesmaids’ dresses, you can wear and WILL WANT to wear the customized flower hair pins again.
