M.I.S.S. Paper Dolls: Week 9

Now that’s what I’m talking about. Our contributors are really starting to open up to show and tell us what’s inspiring them. From literature to the weather, color to a colorful artist, one can be stricken at any time. You don’t even want to know what I’m thinking about right now. Trust.

Everything I am coveting right now. It’s pretty much the best thing I can illustrate to explain my mood right now as well – colourful.

It’s winter here in the southern hemisphere, and since I’m a real whinger when it comes to being cold I’m layering up and making friends with a nice bottle of red.

I recently read Jack Kerouac’s “On the Road” and I wondered what the main character, Sal Paradise, wore during his travels in the ’40s. The novel served as my inspiration for this collage – I wondered what the female counterpart to Sal Paradise might wear when traveling cross country. Comfortable shoes, denim shorts, red lipstick, and a fabulous handbag are just the beginnings of what I’d pack if I were to pack my car tomorrow and set out for California like Sal did.

Inspired by Andy Warhol’s colorful palette, obsession with consumerism, and fascination with celebrities. “Everyone will be famous for 15 minutes.”
