M.I.S.S. Michelle's Beauty Picks of the Week: Get Highlighted with a Little Help from these Friends – My Fave Highlighters

I was recently discussing highlighters with my homegirl Jessica when I came up with this week’s picks. Highlighters are an amazing cosmetics tool that can alter the ways in which we see light and shadows, and therefore can create the appearance of younger looking skin. And I am all about that these days, especially since I am a woman in my thirties, an ex-smoker, and someone who should definitely get more sleep. The following, two very good highlighters at two very different price points, are my picks for this week, and next week, I’ll show you how highlighters are used in face contouring (a.k.a. using bronzer, blush, and a highlighter together to enhance the appearance of facial features).

PICK 1. Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Radiant Touch

PICK 1. Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Radiant Touch

Touche Éclat has had a cult following for years now, and for good reason: It fakes the hell out of tired skin, which is definitely worth the investment in my opinion. The YSL Touche Éclat Radiant Touch is a liquid highlighter/concealer dispensed through a brush in a gold tube. The formula is shimmery and lightweight, yet has staying power, and looks amazing wherever it is applied. Hell, it’s just glamorous, LOOK at that GOLD tube!

PICK 2. Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy Highlighter in Pink Luster

PICK 2. Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy Highlighter in Pink Luster

However, if you are not on a Yves Saint Laurent budget, Sally Hansen makes a very good cream highlighter that comes with a white and a golden/pink shade and also in a gold/bronze combo not shown here. The Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy line is eco-friendly and does not contain any parabens (common preservative in cosmetics and toiletries which maybe linked to cancer). Use alone or mix together or layer, this is great deal considering you get two very workable shades for less than $6.50 each!
