Ruffles? Check. Tie dye? Check. Leather? You got it. In last week’s show at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, Sydney label Illionaire teamed what’s hot right now with their staple trippy acid prints. Think bright colours, random pairings of fabrics, and lots of gold glitter.
Sexy girls, girly girls and tomboys are all looked after (guys too, but they don’t count in this write up!) – oversized singlets were tucked into high-waisted ruched shorts and leather skirts, while various cutaway pieces were teemed with boleros made from gold lamé and tie-dyed fabrics. On the more feminine side, tight-fitting mini-dresses made an appearance in a mix of tie-dye, all-over prints and blue leather. A bit of an odd addition (compared to the rest of the pieces anyway) was an androgynous collared shirt with bow tie tucked into leather skinnies, teamed with black fingerless gloves.
Only one down side for me – the (distracting) pom-pom heels worn by some of the models, but apart from that a solid show!
