Brace yourselves, people: T-Mobile is damn near ready to drop a new and extremely improved Sidekick LX for 2009. The 2009 edition of the original hiptop messaging phone sports a more refined, mature design than previous models (while maintaining that iconic and beloved swivel screen) and boasts a list of features sure to bring a smile to every Sidekick loving man, woman, and child across the country: a drop dead gorgeous 3.2 inch full wide VGA display, 3G support for high speed web browsing, GPS, a 3.2. megapixel auto focus camera with LED flash , video recording and playback, a microSD expansion slot under the battery, stereo Bluetooth, quadband EDGE, and HSDPA for when you want to send text messages while riding horseback across the European countryside. But messaging has always been the Sidekick’s selling point, and they’ve done their best to keep up with the latest in social networking trends. In addition to the usual three built-in IM clients (AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, and Windows Live) MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter apps come preloaded on the device. The Twitter app is especially nice for all you addicts out there because it posts updates straight to the Sidekick’s homepage and updates every five minutes. And with the Sidekick’s new spacious and improved keyboard, it’s easier than ever to continuously blast tweets out than it would have been on previous models.
The T-Mobile Sidekick LX will be available nationally at select retail stores and online at www.t-mobile.com starting tomorrow, May 13th, in two colors: carbon and orchid. New customers can get theirs for $249.99 on a two-year contract after rebates while existing customers looking to upgrade can get theirs for $50 cheaper.
