So, last fall I just about fell in love with the Canadian streetwear brand Lily + Jae when I got the chance to check out the spring preview of the line. I found the garments to be cute but not quite cutesy, with an effortless tomboyish aesthetic that completely appeals to my desire to look put together, but casual at the same time. This upcoming autumn/winter collection for the brand is no different, as they continue to put their use of simple color palettes, well thought out prints, thermals, and comfortable fabrics together with both simple and interestingly shaped garments.
The theme for this season is “Choose Your Own Adventure” and is best elaborated on in the brands own words as seen below.
I can’t fully show any articles from the line, but I will tell you there is great attention paid to small and simple details on the garments, like pocket squares and well-placed tailored darting. Lily + Jae come correct with a full wardrobe’s variety of pieces including tops, bottoms, dresses, outerwear, and knitted hats. Some standout pieces from this collection include soft oversize v-neck tees, equally cozy thermals including a body suit, what appears to be a perfect tunic-like shirt in ubiquitous black and white lumberjack plaid. There were also Annie Hall-ish wool trousers with removable suspenders and a matching vest that would be appropriate to wear to the office, or dressed down for a an autumn day out meandering, as well as a lovely plaid batwing poncho-like coat. As we get closer to the launch date for the line, we’ll be able to spill the beans, but until then, I’ve got some fabric swatches to whet your curiosities.
