So, today is Halloween – my favorite holiday of the year. I love to get dressed up. Give me any reason to put a costume-like outfit on, and I am there with bells, whistles and the whole shebang. I actually have a whole closet that I call “The Crazy Box” where I keep all of the insane articles of clothing I pick up at thrift stores and save for my appropriate crazy days. I never know why I buy the stuff, I just know it ALWAYS comes in handy. Anyhoo, I found this fun little interactive retro paper doll website by illustrator J. David McKenney, who has done work for Nylon, Elle Girl, Women’s Wear Daily, and Heatherette, to name a few.
If you haven’t gotten your costume ready yet, this might be a good way to spark your creativity. Take a look in your closets and see what you’ve got. I went rifling through the crazy box last night and pulled out this insane batwing muumuu-caftan dress that I bought at the salvation army a while back, and haven’t gotten around to wearing yet. If I could only find my turban, I think I’m going to go as some sort of boozy psychedelic Norma Desmond. Check it out after the jump. Don’t look at me like I’m crazy.
