M.I.S.S. Michelle’s Beauty Tip and Pick of the Week: Do It in the Shower - Two Minute Cuticle Prep that is - Tips to Optimize Your Showering Habits - Part II

This week’s tip: Do It In the Shower - Two Minute Cuticle Prep , is another time saving technique done while showering, and is inspired by my true and desperate need for a manicure. During a shower is great time to prep cuticles, since skin automatically softens from the water’s moisture, and is easily pliable. The following is a quick, easy, and inexpensive way to maintain cuticles in between nail salon visits.

M.I.S.S. Vegas Review: UNIF at MAGIC/SLATE

Based in LA and started 4 years ago, Eric Espinoza, “Man of Business”, started UNIF (“Ur Not In Fashion”) to help the stylishly challenged.  His quirky fun pieces are definitely not for the timid and have lots of personality.  He doesn’t shy away from color and his cuts are feminine and flattering.  Though he also has a men’s collection, the women’s pieces are all designed with just the ladies in mind.  The Holiday collection features plaid pieces in a purple, black and turquoise color palette.  The Spring Collection incorporates more colors and has lots of 80s accents like skirts with suspenders, paint splatters, and crop tops.  Check out sneak peaks of the UNIF women’s Holiday 2008 and Spring 2009 collections after the jump.

M.I.S.S. Vegas Review: M.I.C. at Pool

M.I.C. (“Made In California”) is a unique line of clothes that incorporates vintage materials and resources into the pieces.  The line features t-shirts and french terry pieces.  The tees are made with vintage bandanas and are available for men and women so you and your man can match if you’re into that sort of thing.  The french terry pieces were made of colorful stripes straight outta the 70s complete with mini pompoms like the ones on the back of your tennis socks as a kid.  Since the pieces are made sourcing vintage materials, you’re guaranteed to have a piece that is unique.  Check out more of the collection after the jump.

M.I.S.S. Vegas Review: Beck(y) & Blankita Handbags at Pool

I’ve known about the Beck(y) handbag company for some time as the go to for a handbag made out of a well loved and used skateboard deck.  When I saw her at Pool, I was happy to reconnect and learn that she had expanded her product offering.  Beck(y) added belt buckles and clutches a while back but has now expanded her line to include jewelry too.  She showcased necklaces and earrings made of old skate decks (pictured below).  No two pieces are exactly alike and these are wonderful pieces that will distinguish you from the rest at the get.

I was also excited to learn that Beck(y) started a new line of leather handbags called Blankita.  The Blankita collection features leather handbags in a variety of shapes and sizes ranging from shoulder bags, totes, and clutches.  My favorite feature of the Blankita bags was the artistic embroidered detail on the bags.  Check out more pictures from the collection after the jump.

M.I.S.S. Vegas Review: Paperdoll Fashion at Pool

When I walked by the Paperdoll Fashion booth the quilted/woven fleece crew (pictured below) immediately caught my attention.  I had to stop, touch and feel it for myself.  The details were impressive and made for one of the best crews I saw at all the shows.  The fleece was super-soft too and I’m a sucker for soft fleece.  The design details of the quilting and weaving did nothing to detract from the fit and made a simple crew into a statement piece.  When we asked the designer, Heather Treadway, her inspiration she said she was inspired by placements.  Inspiration can be anywhere!  Check out more pictures from the Paperdoll Fashion Fall ’08 collection after the jump.
