Back in 2005, a friend introduced me to Swedish electronic-jazz duo, Koop and I was immediately captivated by their dynamic sound. Fun and uplifting, their pairing of grooves and vocals by Yukimi Nagano made me want to dance on clouds!
As I was recently revisiting the Koop album Waltz for Koop, I couldn’t help but wonder why Yukimi Nagano isn’t in every magazine and music hype blog. She’s beautiful, beyond talented, driven…wasn’t caught smoking crack cocaine on video and I hear she’s in a healthy relationship with Swedish indie folk singer-songwriter José González (who is not incarcerated and probably never has been).
*Sigh* One can only hope that one day, the media will give actors and musicians with morals and good judgment some shine. For now, enjoy the voice of Yukimi Nagano featured on two Koop tracks.
Yay for YouTube!

Koop feat. Yukimi Nagano – Come to me
(This video reminds me of The Great Gatsby!)
Yukimi Nagano sings with Stateless, Little Dragon, Jafrosax, Sleepwalker and, of course, Koop.

Her voice is so lovely – thanks for sharing! And, yes, the 2nd video is very Gatsby! I love it!
i concur, i’m a huge fan a yukimi. i first heard her with koop and discovered other great performances besides little dragon. check her live stuff on kcrw radio, hird, sleepwalker, shuya okino and jafrosax (all japanese artists available on youtube). her voice is the essence of sultry. if she were born in the 30’s or 40’s she would have been another billie holiday. i can’t believe i missed her performing in L.A. halloween for kcrw.
spread the word!
