I’ve always felt a little left out of the selvedge denim game – for the most part, it’s been a boy’s club. There were brands that made ladies’ fits but they were largely unflattering on women’s curves. When I heard of Naked & Famous Denim, I felt a ray of hope shining down on me, letting me feel like my selvedge denim days are here. Naked & Famous jeans are made in Canada by denim that is made in, and imported from, Japan. The mill that makes their denim makes some of the world’s best (and most expensive) denim and uses old practices along with some new ones.
I think what I love most is that the jeans are sold in their raw state – no cheesy washes, embroideries, tears, etc. This is denim for “denim heads” – people who want to really wear in their jeans and make their own fades and tears. In addition to traditional selvedge denim, Naked & Famous has developed a denim exclusive to their brand – Silk Denim, which contains 30% silk! Now, those are some “fancy pants”! They have several fits for women including the skinny girl, slim girl, boot girl and trouser girl. Their colors include black, white, indigo, grey and camel. Check out their site for a cool animated video that let’s you in on the story behind the brand. Naked & Famous can be purchased at Azalea Boutique.
