It seems as though there are quite a few people still mourning the death of Chanel’s black satin nail polish, which is evident in the fact that a new neutral tone seems to be just as in demand this summer as LA Sunrise:
Gray nail polish.
It’s definitely not the vibrant orange color women have been leaving their manicurists wearing or as London Times writer Lisa Armstrong says, “It looks downright unhealthy, like a body gently rotting from within.”
True.
And yet, that never kept any of us away from an even more morbid black nail stain. My favorite type comes courtesy of Lippmmans — whom created the gunmetal polish with 80s icon Pat Benatar.

I love me some gray nail polish…but have only been happy with the Wet n’ Wild $.99 cent joint. I’m going to have to try the Lippmann brand….mainly cause I love me some Benatar…even I (someone who wears a lot of black, gray, and blue) like to wear colors in the Summer
i LOVE grey nail polish and have been searching for almost a year for the perfect grey - to no avail. until last week, when i finally gave up and mixed white and black nailpolish to my own custom shade of grey!
gray is going to be HUGE for fall–all the nail brands have them coming out. CND (creative nail design) has two: an opaque and a silvery shimmered grey.
I’d love to find a nice grey for my talons! I’ll have to try Barry M first. I’m also after a navy blue. Any suggestions?
hi miss niesh,
my favorite navy blue is chanel’s blue satin (i’m pretty sure that’s what it’s called and it came out this spring). i also know OPI has a navy blue but it’s bluer than the chanel. the chanel one is so dark that in some light it looks almost black.
