Lately when I go mascara shopping, I see so many different types of mascara wands varying in size, shape, color, texture, and materials; all promising more length, volume, intensity, and definition. It’s like a war of the wands between brands of mascara, and it’s easy to see how consumers can get overwhelmed by it all. And I’m ALWAYS mascara shopping since I, to my disappointment, am not one of those naturally long eyelash girls. In fact, my lashes are so much on the sparse side, and having no curl whatsoever, that each day and sometimes multiple times a day no matter what the circumstance, they get a nice generous helping of mascara, applicable to the situation of course. Mascara is definitely my saving grace, my way to make peace with having less than desirable eyelashes. So this week’s pick is about my latest favorite drugstore mascara: Covergirl’s LashBlast.
Covergirl’s newest edition to their mascara line is called LashBlast, a volumizing mascara with short spiky plastic bristles on a thick wand. Since the bristles vary in length and size, they are able to reach and thoroughly coat even the smaller areas around the lashline with mascara. Yes, the mascara delivers instant volume to each lash, but what excites me most about LashBlast is its extraordinary curl holding power. I like the look of this mascara for day, since it is not super carbon-black in color.
TIP: For nights out, use as a foundation mascara underneath layers of a fiber building mascara like Imju Fiberwig Mascara (see picks from 2/18/08).
