Love is always the emphasis for the weeks prior to Valentine’s Day, and I’ll be the first to admit, I LOVE commercialized holidays. The act of finding something your sweetheart will love or that will sweeten your hearts can be an exhilarating process with many promising rewards. On that note, here are my top 3 Valentine’s Day Picks for you both.

1. Wagyu Filets (Kobe beef style)

If you don’t like the overcrowding of restaurants on Valentine’s Day, but you still want to share a gourmet meal with your sweetie, don’t fret my pet, cause thanks to the internet, you’re able to make a carnivorous meal you’ll never forget….well, as long as you don’t mind the labor…and the labor is definitely worth it with when you are talking about Wagyu filets, that is, the American version of Kobe beef, which is based on similar breeding practices as this Japanese delicacy. With these filets it’s pretty much a no brainer, just add kosher salt and pepper, and NEVER overcook them. The prefect gift for any meat lover and protein at its absolute best.

REVIEW:
Price: $149.95 for two 8 oz. filets

2. Absinthe (purchased online)

Absinthe. It’s bright green. It’s mysteriously floral and sweet, and incredibly strong. It’s the femme fatale of liquors sometimes known as the “Green Fairy?, and it’s the perfect accompaniment to any Valentine’s Day date.

Absinthe is a bright green liquor distilled from the wormwood tree of the Artemisia Absinthium species. Its distillation process produces Thujone, the psychoactive chemical responsible for the alcohol’s risqué reputation.

In the 19th century, absinthe was blamed for Europe’s alcoholism problems, and was thought to have brought out the most grotesque and animalistic drives in its consumers, side affects were most likely caused by toxic chemicals added in the production of low grade absinthe, and the American ban on absinthe containing Thujone was a residual effect of Prohibition. There is this quite rampant American misnomer that absinthe is illegal in the United States. Until this year, it was illegal to MANUFACTURE liquor containing Thujone in the United States, but it is legal to purchase.

I’ve been an absinthe drinker for some years now, my first taste back in 2002. It’s definitely thrilling to indulge in something a little bit naughty, and even better to share the experience. And it is a process. Fill a glass with a few ounces of the bright green liquor. Pour very, very cold water over a sugar cube resting on a slotted spoon or fork resting on top of the glass. The bright green absinthe will turn milky white and is ready to drink, but BEWARE: You will not like this drink if you do not like the flavors of licorice or star anise.

3. Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy Infinity Edge graphic lace push-up bra and matching thong

Pink satin paired with black lace is one of my absolute favorite combinations. The bra in this set is quite functional as it is pretty, and its push up powers will work wonders with a low décolleté top. This hot little number, not too frou-frou, and not too tawdry, is just the right amount of spice for your Valentine.
