M.I.S.S. Michelle’s Beauty Picks of the Week: The Pleasure Principle – Great Gifts to Give and Keep

The holidays are a dangerous time for an open-minded person like myself. It’s when I’m shopping for a specific person, looking for that perfect Christmas gift with them in mind, that I also happen to find many a perfect gift for myself, as I am a true optimist; inspired by all the wonderful things out there, seeing the hidden potential in each item I pass. You might think I’m crazy, but I’m serious; it’s the pleasure principle, and this week’s picks are great gifts to give and keep.

1. Mason Pearson Bristle and Nylon Hairbrush

This is the perfect gift for someone who LOVES their hair. I gave one to my sister a few years back. Now at first glance, the Mason Pearson hairbrush appears to be just an old-fashioned plastic hair brush, but once you run it through your tresses, you’ll understand.
Nylon bristles massage the scalp and detangle, while boar bristles evenly distribute hair’s natural oils in a way incomparable to any other hair products or tools. It will fulfill the recipient’s Rapuzel fantasies, giving his or her hair a soft, lightweight texture and hand. It’s like an enchanted hairbrush with magical powers. Especially since these hairbrushes have been in English existence for 122 years.

2. MAC Heirlooms 5 Face Brushes

Any make-up artist will tell you good make-up brushes are responsible for impeccable make-up application. However, good make-up brushes can be quite expensive, sometimes costing as much as $52.00 a brush, which is why I am a huge fan of MAC’s Heirlooms 5 basic brush set. This set is all one really needs for basic make-up application and includes: blush/powder brush, a lipstick brush, for the eyes – a shader, a small blending brush, and an eyebrow brush. The brushes are well make, easy to use, and come in a cute, dainty plastic framed case.

3. Jo Malone Cologne Coffret Set

The Jo Malone Cologne Coffret Set is brilliant gift idea. The set includes six travel size spray colognes (Orange Blossom, Grapefruit, Pomegranate Noir, Lime Basil & Mandarin, Amber & Lavender, Blue Agava & Cacao) that can be worn alone or layered with one another. I’m a huge fan of Jo Malone fragrances, since in most combinations they are very light and office appropriate, and to my pleasant surprise, the headier scents like, Blue Agava & Cacao, are non-overpowering, yet still sensual. They also bring out the junior Nez (world renowned French perfume experts) in me, as lately I’ve been experimenting with mixing them with other fragrance brands.
