M.I.S.S. Michelle’s Beauty Pick & Tips of the Week: Putting Out Fires with Gasoline - The Lure of the Smokey Eye.
The smokey eye. It’s sexy, it’s sultry and I’m not gonna lie, it’s the wearing all black of cosmetics, granting an instant ten pound weight loss to its wearer as visually, a larger eye means a smaller surface area of the face. This week’s pick, Sephora’s Smokey Eye Kit, is intended to help one master the smokey eye, and includes step by step how to instructions, 5 very well made specialty brushes, and a mascara conveniently packaged in a gunmetal vinyl travel case.
REVIEW:Price: $42Value: ModerateAccessibility: ModerateWhere to buy: Sephora Stores, sephora.comThis week’s TIP was inspired by this week’s pick, and is a look I’ve created using Sephora’s Smokey Eye Kit. The instructions included in the Smokey Eye kit are a good starting foundation for creating the smokey eye look, and in this week’s tip, I’ll take you through the steps. I like to spice up this traditional look with a splash of color, as seen in the photos below.Start with a color palette like this:
The Smokey Eye Kit Instructions
Step 1) Using the all over shadow brush, start with a shimmery hightlight in a lighter shade over your entire lid, concentrating the color in the brow arch then working your way down to the lash line.Step 2) Subtly blend a dark eyeshadow up from your lashes to your eye crease using your shader brush, and blend into your crease.
Step 3) Line the upper and lower lashes with the liner brush and *dark eyeliner. Start from the outer corner and work inwards. Make sure the line is thickest and most intense at the outer corner of the eye.Step 4) TIP: **With your shader brush dab a bright shimmery shadow vertically under your eyebrow arch and gently blend outward. Then smudge the darkest shadow along the lashline using the dome smudge brush.Step 5) **Curl your eyelashes with an eyelash curler and apply several coats of mascara.Step 6)**TIP: Dab a tiny amount of shimmery white or cream shadow above the inner corners of each eye. This will make the eyes “pop. Apply pink blush and a sheer pinkish purple gloss and you have a sexy demure smolder. Wear with a red lipgloss, and you’ll be putting out fires with gasoline.**Variation on copy included in Sephora packaging.Enjoy and stay posted for more beauty tips and picks to come next week!
