The holidays are always the busiest, and the most fun time of the year for me. Parties, dinners, shopping, last minute shopping, cooking, eating, drinking, and staying out late has me pretty much exhausted by the end of December. Yet somehow I make it thorough the festivities of the winter holiday, thanks to this week’s picks, a.k.a Santa’s Little Helpers, which keep me looking cool, calm, and collected, and best of all: jolly.
1. Philosophy Mini Oxygen Peel Set
I’ve been using Philosophy’s Oxygen Peel for years now, and every time I use it, I’m still surprised by how immediate the results are. The procedure is rather fascinating too, since it is includes applying the enzyme caplet (catalyst for the oxygenating process), then the oxygen cream, then scraping the layer off with a spatula, which leaves you with noticeably more vibrant and refreshed looking skin. This set yields five oxygen peel treatments (I use one every 4-6 weeks), and for $25 is a great gift for anyone who already uses Philosophy products, as it comes with a bonus 2 once bottle of Real Purity (Philosophy’s facial cleanser).
Where to buy: Exclusive to Nordstrom stores, nordstrom.com
2. Shiseido Bio-Performance Super Refining Essence
I use this rejuvenating serum whenever I am dead tired, and like magic, once it is absorbed, my skin looks healthy and rested, and I’m still dead tired of course. This products uses Shiseido’s Bio-Regenerine Technology, which is said to help accelerate skin cell turn over. Even after one application, my skin feels softer and its dull winter texture is revitalized. It’s amazing, and during these months I make sure to use it three times a week.
Price: $75/ 1.8 oz.
Where to buy: Nordstrom, Macys.com, Sephora
3. Benefit 10 Palette $28
TIP: Pale pink eyeshadow does wonders for tired eyes.
It’s so good, that I’ve adopted it as my work face uniform. Now the Benefit 10 Palette is great because it includes Benefit’s 10, (see review from July 8, 2007), of which I swipe the pale pink light sparkle highlighter onto my lids, adding a bit of the bronzer in the crease, then finish with black/brown eyeliner, and a daytime mascara.
The palette also contains: two eyeshadows, in lavender and mocha hues, and 2 lipsticks in pink and light plum, all having a slight shimmer. Great for travel and for work, the Benefit 10 Palette earns a perfect ten in my book.
Where to buy: Nordstrom, Macy’s, sephora.com
