M.I.S.S. Michelle’s Beauty Picks of the Week: Get Your Red Hots On – My Top 3 Red Lipsticks for 2007

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketWhereas clothing styles are ever-changing, red lipstick is forever. Sure there are times in fashion when nudes or pink glosses prevail, however these beauty trends don’t even come close to the power of the painted red lip. Red lipstick is classic. Like a pair of 501s, it’s the pearl strand of cosmetics. It’s chic. When your red lips are the only ones in a sea of pink glosses, you’ve earned the mystique of a French girl. Red lipstick is elegant. Pair it with a chignon and lots of lash, and you’re ready for an evening out. With this said, you’ve red my mind….So this week’s picks are dedicated to my top 3 favorite red lipsticks of the year.Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket1. Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Red Collection in Red #175This is the most versatile red lipstick I’ve ever owned. Dab it on light for daylight hours, apply with a heavier hand for evening, and can be used as rouge as well. The formula itself is a sheer, yet highly pigmented raspberry hue mixed with very fine flecks of glitter. Moisturizing and glides on smooth. This one’s a sure keeper.REVIEW: Price: $23Value: ModerateAccessibility: ModerateWhere to buy: Nordstorm, Saks, shuuemura.comPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket2. Christian Dior Crème de Gloss in Rouge Nectar 845Striking is the first word that comes to mind when I think of Rouge Nectar 845. This cream gloss formula is ultra pigmented and shimmers almost frosted like, but not quite, with the finest red glitter; surely a reflection of remarkable advances in chemistry. It should be deemed the new “Holiday Red?, an old Dior lipstick fave of mine that has been long discontinued, as it is the perfect modern red lipstick to wear to holiday partiesREVIEW: Price: $24.50Value: ModerateAccessibility: GoodWhere to buy: Sephora, Macy’s, NordstromPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket3. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Fire & Ice Fire and Ice, a Revlon classic; I think the name says it all. A cool creamy pinky red tone, sexy and daring, but not at all garish. Even to this day, Fire and Ice is still a very progressive color, especially considering it made its debut in 1952. The following copy is from one of the lipstick’s first ads, prefaced by the question: ARE YOU MADE FOR FIRE AND ICE? Answer yes to 8 of the 15, and Revlon assures you are.Have you ever danced with your shoes off? Did you ever wish on a new moon? Do you blush when you find yourself flirting? When a recipe calls for one dash of bitters, do you think it’s better with two? Do you secretly hope the next man you meet will be a psychiatrist? Do you sometimes feel that other women resent you? Have you ever wanted to wear an ankle bracelet? Do sables excite you, even on other women? Do you love to look up at a man? Do you face crowded parties with panic — then wind up having a wonderful time? Does gypsy music make you sad? Do you think any man really understands you? Would you streak your hair with platinum without consulting your husband? If tourist flights were running, would you take a trip to Mars? Do you close your eyes when you’re kissed?A rebel without a cause, perhaps…a lipstick legend, definitely.REVIEW: Price: $7.99Value: Great!!!!Accessibility: Great!!!!Where to buy: DrugstoresPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketEnjoy and stay posted for more beauty tips and picks to come next week!
